Really enjoyed reading this 248-page book by Lettie Teague, Exec Wine Editor of Food and Wine. It's a lively "beginner's guide" to the essentials of wine told in "night table reading" form.
$16; I bought mine at Third Street Books in McMinnville because I like to support local owners, but it is readily available online and at larger book vendors.
Lettie Teague writes a monthly column for the magazine, "Wine Matters," for which she won the 2003 James Beard MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award. She is also the illustrator and coauthor of Fear of Wine.
